A Ruby-crowned Kinglet caught our attention as it flitted through the brush, rarely staying still for more than a second. Its quick movements made spotting it especially rewarding.

We encountered a lot of Acorn Woodpeckers during the hike, their calls echoing through the trees. Watching them busily move between trunks and branches added plenty of energy to the trail.

A few American Robins appeared in more open sections of the trail, foraging on the ground and taking advantage of the sunny weather. Their presence added a familiar and comforting touch to the landscape.

A couple of Turkey Vultures soared overhead, effortlessly riding the gusts of wind. Seeing them glide high above was a reminder of just how alive the skies can be on a breezy day.
